bunbu is a web application that performs frequency analysis on japanese text. it breaks down the text into individual words in their dictionary form, and provides statistics on their usage.

the dictionary form is the basic version of a word; the way you'd find it in a dictionary. for example, the verb「食べる」(to eat) is the dictionary form of「食べた」(ate),「食べている」(eating), etc.

bunbu was inspired by this article on analysing japanese song lyrics to learn japanese.

your data never leaves your device:

• local processing: all text analysis is performed on your device
• no data collection: neither your text nor the analysis results are sent to any server
• no ai: your text is not used to train any machine learning models
• no cookies: this site doesn't use cookies or any other tracking technologies
• open source: the code is open source and available for inspection on github
